Percutaneous Epididymal Sperm Aspiration (PESA)

PESA is a minimally invasive technique used to retrieve sperm in men with a suspected blockage of the vas deferensβ€”the tube that carries sperm from the testis. It is a simpler and more cost-effective alternative to MESA.

During PESA:

  • A fine needle is inserted through the skin of the scrotum.
  • Sperm is aspirated from the epididymis, where sperm are stored after production in the testes.

The retrieved sperm can be used immediately for Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) or frozen for future IVF cycles.

Why Choose PESA?

  • Quick, outpatient procedure
  • Less invasive than surgical alternatives
  • Ideal for men with obstructive azoospermia
